MORPH SET NUDO
When I met Lola, I was immediately fascinated by her bright eyes, which contrasted with the deep wrinkles she had acquired over eighty years and the stiffness of her spoken words. One day, Lola took a phial of perfume out of the jar, whose fascinating aroma instantly filled the room. Then she told me about her Colombian grandfather, who had emigrated to the United States from Bogotá, dreaming of getting rich. In those days coca leaves were legally used, being considered invigorating and magical. Lola’s grandfather decided to create an energizing elixir based on this plant, from which he made a fortune. He called it Nudo (Nude). Shortly after the creation of the elixir, the substance was banned and the marketing of the essence was stopped. At the same time, however, Lola’s grandfather met Kate, a young Irish girl from a good family, brought up Catholic. One day he showed the girl his warehouse and the 1000 vials of Nudo. Kate fell hopelessly in love with the elixir. He added a hint of incense and the flavours began to blend together creating a wonderful fragrance. It was a miracle: Kate had managed to create the elixir of the two worlds, the sacred and the profane, which together formed a whole. Shortly thereafter, Lola’s grandfather went back to Colombia, from where he never returned. in anticipation of it, Kate stopped selling the perfume. “This is the last vial,” Lola told me. “When it empties, along with it all memories will be erased. That’s why I told you the story. Never forget it.” Then she smiled and gave me that last vial of perfume.
